Five Ford numbers are listed on this page, and they begin in only four ways: 2M5A, 98BB, XS7F and YS7F. Three of those bases carry a single row each, and XS7F carries two. We repair engine ECUs bearing all five numbers at component level.

Three bases with one row each

2M5A-12A650-EF, 98BB-12A650-BVB and YS7F-12A650-CA each stand alone on their base. With one of these labels, the four characters before 12A650 already point to a single row, and the ending and word confirm it: EF with 5ARB, BVB with GWP1, CA with ICAM.

BVB deserves a careful read. It is the only three-letter ending among the five; every other ending runs to two letters, so a label copied down as BV or VB has lost part of the number.

XS7F, the base that needs reading further

FB and FC share XS7F-12A650 and differ only in their final letter. On these two the base settles nothing, and the row comes down to that letter and the word printed after it: JUST beside FB, JOWL beside FC.

The two words share only their opening J, so it is the whole word, not its first letter, that keeps the rows apart.

Where the LP2-300 name is on record

The LP2-300 name is on record beside three of the five numbers: 98BB-12A650-BVB, XS7F-12A650-FB and XS7F-12A650-FC. For the other two rows, the Ford number and its word are the identification to work from.

The Mondeo 2.0 and the Focus

BVB, FB, FC and CA are all on record from the Ford Mondeo with the 2.0 engine, and FB and FC from the Mondeo Mk2 in particular. EF is on record from the Ford Focus.

The model therefore divides the table one way, EF against the other four, while the base divides it another. Neither separates FB from FC; only the ending and the word do that.

How each unit is repaired

Our own engineers carry out every repair in our UK workshop. Each unit is logged, inspected and electrically tested, then diagnosed against the fault you report.

We tell you the cause and give an estimate before anything chargeable begins, and nothing proceeds without your authorisation. The repair is made at component level, under a microscope with temperature-controlled rework equipment, and the unit comes back to you only after it passes final testing. The work done is covered by a 24-month warranty.
