Each row in the table on this page is named by a short Marelli code, such as IAW 045 or IAW 048/01, and the column for a vehicle-manufacturer number is empty on all five. Reading the IAW code on a Ford unit’s label

The code begins with the letters IAW, followed by digits and, on some units, more characters after a dot or a stroke. The maker’s name beside it varies: labels on these units may read Weber, Weber-Marelli or Magneti Marelli, and on the IAW 045 and 048 units on record, the labels described read Weber IAW followed by the code.

Whichever name is printed, the code after IAW is what we match. Copy every character of it, including any dot, stroke or letter, in the position the label puts it.

IAW 045 and IAW 045.06 are two rows, not one

IAW 045 is on record from the Ford Sierra Cosworth. Five independent sources we checked name that car against the code, and our record goes no further than the car.

IAW 045.06 has a row of its own. The characters after 045 are part of the code, so a label reading IAW 045.06 does not match the IAW 045 row, and a label reading IAW 045 does not match this one.

For IAW 045.06 we hold too little on record to name a car. The label, not the car, has to identify this unit, and our engineers confirm coverage for it before any work is planned.

IAW 048/01, on record from the Sierra Cosworth 4×4

IAW 048/01 is on record from the Ford Sierra Cosworth 4×4, with six independent sources naming that car against it. The 048 separates it from the two 045 rows, and the /01 separates it from the P8 rows that follow.

Because IAW 045 and IAW 048/01 are both on record from Sierra Cosworths, the model name alone cannot choose between them. The code on the label does. If what you know about the car seems at odds with the label, send both; the label is what we work from.

IAW 048/P8 and IAW 48/P8: one designation printed two ways

The last two rows in the table are the same designation, printed with and without the leading zero. Sources print it both ways, and at least one prints both forms for the same P8 unit.

This P8 unit is on record from the Ford Escort Cosworth, named against it by six independent sources across the two spellings. Copy the code in whichever form your label shows; there is no need to add or drop the zero for us to find the row.
