The car a Magneti Marelli G6 came out of can lead you to a single row of our table. The label on the unit then tells you whether that row is yours. That works because no two of the four G6 numbers in our table share a car on record, and no two share an engine size.
Where each car on record leads in our Magneti Marelli G6 table
Our table prints each unit as IAW G6. followed by two digits: G6.10, G6.11, G6.12 and G6.14. Sellers print the same numbers in other ways, so IAW G6.14, IAWG6.14 and IAW G614 all name one unit.
If the label is not a G6 at all, look through the Peugeot engine ECUs with another name on the case or the Citroën engine ECUs whose labels name a different family. For a car that is neither a Peugeot nor a Citroën, go to engine ECU repairs for every other marque.
The Peugeot 106 is on record against G6.11, with the 1.1 engine. The Peugeot 306 is on record against G6.14, with the 1.4. The Citroën ZX is on record against G6.12, with no engine size recorded.
In our records, each of those cars sits against one G6 number and no other. So for a unit out of a 306, G6.14 is the row to compare first; out of a 106, G6.11; out of a ZX, G6.12.
What the car cannot settle on a Magneti Marelli G6
A car leads to a row; it does not rule the other three out. Our records list the cars in which each number has turned up, and a G6 from a car we have not recorded is still a G6.
When the car and the label lead to the same row, the match is as strong as our table allows. When they lead to different rows, go by the label, which is printed on the unit you are holding.
IAW G6.10, with no car or engine size on record
G6.10 is the one row the car cannot lead you to. Neither a car nor an engine size is on record against it, so the Marelli number has to identify the unit by itself.
That puts the whole weight on the label. Copy the number straight off the unit and read the last digit twice: G6.10 and G6.11 differ only there, and a slip would move you to a row with a car beside it.
Some G6 labels print a further code straight after the number, as in G6.14 0D03; send that exactly as printed too. And name the car and its engine size even for a G6.10. With nothing recorded against the row, what you tell us is the only vehicle detail we have.
The Peugeot or Citroën number our G6 table leaves blank
A G6 label can also carry a Peugeot or Citroën number beginning 96. Our table lists these units by Marelli number only: its OEM column is empty on all four rows, and the Marelli number is what finds your row here.
Send the 96 number all the same, together with every other number printed on the label. A blank cell in our table is no reason to leave a number off the form.
Sending a Magneti Marelli G6 to our workshop
Copy the label onto the Repair Form, with the car’s name next to the G6 number, then add the engine size and describe how the fault shows itself. We work by post, with customers across the UK.
On arrival, your G6 is logged, inspected and tested electrically, then put through diagnostics aimed at the fault you reported. Our own engineers do this work in our own UK workshop, on our own equipment. We then tell you what we have found, and no chargeable work begins until you approve it.
The fault is repaired at component level on the G6 you sent, under a microscope with temperature-controlled rework equipment. The unit must pass final testing before it goes back to you, and the repair carries our 24-month warranty.
All four Magneti Marelli G6 numbers are listed in our table below.
