The slash in “Citroen / Peugeot” at the top of this page is not asking you to pick a marque. We hold one Bosch AS3.1 unit on record, and it served the Citroën Xantia 1.9 TD and the Peugeot 406 1.9 TD alike, so the badge on the bonnet does not change which unit you are holding.
One AS3.1 row, two diesel cars
Our AS3.1 table has a single row. Bosch number 0281001262 sits beside PSA number 96 245 195, and the cars recorded against it are the Xantia and the 406, both with the 1.9 TD diesel engine.
So a Xantia owner and a 406 owner reading this page are looking at the same unit. Neither has to translate a Citroën reference into a Peugeot one, or the reverse: the PSA number on the row is shared by both badges.
Two numbers to copy from the case
With the unit out of the car, copy two numbers from its case: the Bosch number and the PSA number. The Bosch number is Bosch’s own reference for the unit, and on this page it is 0281001262.
The PSA number is the reference used across Citroën and Peugeot, which is how one number can stand for a Xantia and a 406 at once. Copy each exactly as printed rather than from a listing or catalogue, and send both.
Ten digits on the label, eight in our table
On units, the PSA number is usually printed in full as 96 245 195 80. Our table prints the first eight digits, 96 245 195, so a label that runs two digits past the table is what we expect to see on an AS3.1 from either car.
Compare the first eight digits with the table and ignore the trailing 80 while you do it. Then put the whole number on your enquiry as your label shows it; we would rather see all ten digits than a version shortened to match our table.
If your case shows different numbers
If the Bosch number is not 0281001262, or the PSA number does not begin 96 245 195, the unit is not the one on this row. That does not mean we cannot repair it: our technical team confirms coverage for a specific unit rather than guessing, so send the numbers anyway.
To see what else we list, browse the remaining Peugeot pages or the Citroën equivalents; we also cover engine ECUs from cars carrying neither badge.
What happens once your AS3.1 is posted
Once your AS3.1 arrives, it is booked in, examined visually, tested electrically and then put through diagnostics specific to the fault you described. The work is done in-house, by our own engineers in our own UK workshop. You hear from us with what we found and a quote, and nothing chargeable is done until you say yes.
Where a fault is found, the repair is made to the failed component itself, under a microscope with temperature-controlled rework equipment, rather than by swapping the whole ECU. The unit leaves only after it passes final testing, and the specific repair carried out is covered by our 24-month warranty.
We take units by post from anywhere in the UK. After removing the unit, fill in the Repair Form to let us have both numbers, whether it came from a Xantia or a 406, and a line on how the fault shows itself.
The single AS3.1 row we hold is set out below.
