The opening five digits of the Chrysler part number on a Bosch EDC15C5’s label go a long way towards placing the unit with its car. Across the twelve rows in our table they fall into four groups, and each group points to one part of the Chrysler and Jeep diesel range.

Four opening groups in the Chrysler numbers

Each Chrysler number in the table has three parts: a group of five digits (most often printed after a leading P), a three-digit block, and a two-letter suffix. P04727 661AD, for example, opens 04727, continues 661 and ends AD. It is the opening group that sorts the rows:

• 56044: five rows, every one a Jeep, from the Cherokee (KJ) and the Grand Cherokee (WJ).
• 04727: three rows, all Chrysler Voyager 2.5 CRD.
• 05094: three rows, all Chrysler Voyager, one with the 2.5 CRD and two with the 2.8 CRD.
• 05034: one row, the Chrysler PT Cruiser 2.2 CRD.

That is a pattern in the rows we hold, not a rule about how Chrysler numbers its parts. It earns its place when a unit has already come out of the vehicle and the label is all there is to go on: the opening group suggests the car, and the Bosch number then picks the row.

Five Jeep units on a page headed Chrysler

The spec lines above say Fits: Chrysler, and seven of the twelve rows are Chrysler vehicles, the Voyager and the PT Cruiser. The other five are Jeeps, and all five carry a Chrysler number opening 56044.

Two of them are Cherokee (KJ) units: 0281011062, paired with P56044 220AF, on the 2.5 CRD, and 0281011279, paired with P56044 299AD, on the 2.8 CRD. The other three are Grand Cherokee (WJ) 2.7 CRD units: 0281010293 (P56044 356AC), 0281011094 (P56044 418AB) and 0281011409 (P56044 679AA).

A Jeep EDC15C5 therefore belongs on this page, and it goes through our workshop exactly as a Chrysler unit does. None of our Jeep rows opens with any other group, so if a Jeep label reads differently, check it against the table closely, or ask us, before the unit is posted.

05034 and 05094: one digit apart, different cars

Two of the four groups are easy to confuse. 05034 and 05094 differ only in their fourth digit, a 3 against a 9, and in our table they belong to different cars: 05034 to the PT Cruiser 2.2 CRD and 05094 to the Voyager.

The single PT Cruiser row is 0281011410, paired with P05034 035AB. On a scuffed or faded label, read that fourth digit twice: taken the wrong way, it moves a PT Cruiser unit into the Voyager rows.

The 05094 group is split again by engine size. P05094 590AA sits against a Voyager 2.5 CRD on 0281012275, while 05094 285AE on 0281012121 and P05094 800AC on 0281012999 are both Voyager 2.8 CRD units. Our table prints the 285AE number in shortened form, as 5094 285AE; it is the same number.

Where the car settles the row, and where the label must

The Voyager 2.5 CRD has more rows than any other car here: four. Three sit in the 04727 group, 0281010290 (P04727 661AD), 0281010814 (P04727 664AE) and 0281011280 (P04727 666AB), and the fourth is the 05094 unit, 0281012275. Knowing the car is a Voyager 2.5 narrows the table to those four; only the label says which one you have.

The Grand Cherokee (WJ) 2.7 CRD leaves three rows to choose between and the Voyager 2.8 CRD two. Three cars do lead to one row each: the PT Cruiser 2.2 CRD, the Cherokee (KJ) 2.5 CRD and the Cherokee (KJ) 2.8 CRD. Even for those, the label is what we confirm against.

One more reading point applies across the table. The two letters at the end of a Chrysler number vary between records for several of these units, so quote the whole number exactly as your label prints it, suffix included. The match is made on the eight digits in front of the suffix; different closing letters from ours are not, on their own, a mismatch.

What our engineers do with an EDC15C5 once it arrives

Every EDC15C5 we receive is repaired in our own UK workshop by our own engineers, and none of the work is passed to anyone else. The unit is logged and inspected, electrically tested, and then taken through diagnostics that follow the fault you have described.

When we know what has failed, we tell you, and nothing chargeable is done until you have authorised it. The faulty component is repaired on the original unit, under a microscope with temperature-controlled rework equipment, so the ECU that goes back into the Voyager, PT Cruiser or Jeep is the one that came out of it.

It is not sent back until it has passed final testing, and the repair carries a 24-month warranty.
