ECU Repairs works on engine ECUs, ECMs and PCMs, and on nothing else. We are able to fully test & rebuild most engine ECU’s, repairing the failed component on the circuit board rather than replacing the whole unit, and every repair carries a 24-month warranty on the work carried out. This category holds our part-number library: more than 300 engine ECUs, each with a page of its own.

Finding your unit from the label on its casing

Most of the engine ECUs we repair come from a handful of ECU manufacturers, whatever badge is on the car. That makes the label on the unit a better guide than the model name. It usually shows three details worth noting down:

The ECU maker, such as Bosch, Siemens or Magneti Marelli.
The family or type, the system name the maker gives it, such as Simtec on some Siemens units or MEMS on the Motorola-built units from Rover.
The part number, the unit’s own reference and the most reliable way to find its page.

Copy the part number exactly as printed, character for character, including any letters at the end. Two numbers that differ by a single character can belong to different units, so a near match is not a match. If you would rather start from the car, the make hubs, for example Volkswagen and Ford, narrow the field before you look for the number.

The ECU makers behind our library

Bosch units make up most of the library. Most of the rest come from a small group of other ECU makers, and the car badge does not always tell you which one built your unit:

Part number not in the list? Send the details anyway

The library is broad, but a unit without its own page is not necessarily one we cannot repair. Our coverage spans European, Japanese, Korean and American manufacturers, on vehicles from small city cars through to performance models, vans and 4x4s.

Send us the ECU maker, the part number exactly as printed and your vehicle details through the Repair Form. Our technical team will confirm coverage for that specific unit rather than guess from the model of car.

How a repair works once your unit arrives

We run a mail-in service covering the whole of the UK. Each unit is logged, visually inspected and electrically tested, then taken through diagnostics specific to its fault. We then contact you with the outcome and an estimate, and no chargeable work begins until you authorise it.

The repair itself is carried out at component level, under microscope with temperature-controlled rework equipment. Our engineers correct the specific fault, whether that is a failed injector driver, a failed voltage regulator or dry solder joints, so your ECU keeps its original coding and immobiliser pairing. A repair is not complete until the unit passes final testing.
