CS after 16238981 and CS after 16246899 are two different rows in our Delphi Delco Multec table, and the numbers in front of them are on record from different Daewoo models. On these units, the two characters printed after the number only identify anything when they stay attached to it.

Which codes appear under more than one number?

Six of the two-character codes in the table appear twice: CS, C3, CR, CQ, 1E and 2E. Each is printed once after 16238981 and once after one of the numbers beginning 162469. The twelve codes that follow 16199550 appear under that number and no other.

That matters when a label has only been half-read. A note that says just “1E” leaves two candidate rows, 16238981 1E and 16246989 1E, and the numbers behind them are on record from different cars: 16238981 from the Daewoo Nubira, 16246989 from the Daewoo Leganza. Four of the other five shared codes split the same way. With C3, both 16238981 and 16246909 are on record from the Nubira, so not even the car tells those two rows apart.

What do the eight digits tell you?

Every row starts with an eight-digit GM part number beginning 162, and eight of those numbers account for all 31 rows. Two carry most of the list: 16199550 has 13 rows and 16238981 has 11. The remaining seven rows are spread across six numbers: 16246929 appears twice, on its own and with CR, and the other five once each.

Those six are close on paper. 16246929 and 16246939 differ by a single digit, as do 16246989 and 16246999, so one misread figure lands you on a different row. Read the eight digits twice before comparing them with the table.

Which Daewoo models are on record for each number?

Our records tie each of the eight numbers to at least one Daewoo model. They show where a unit has been found, not every car it was fitted to.

16199550 is on record from the Daewoo Nexia and the Daewoo Espero, with a 1.5 engine on record against it, which agrees with the Nexia and 1.5L in the spec lines at the top of this page. 16238981 and 16246909 are on record from the Daewoo Nubira. 16246899, 16246929 and 16246939 are on record from the Daewoo Lanos. 16246989 and 16246999 are on record from the Daewoo Leganza, and a 2.0 engine is on record against both.

Why does the model leave more than one row open?

Three of the five models on record are tied to more than one number. The Lanos is on record against three, which hold four rows between them, and the Nubira against two, which hold twelve. The Leganza is on record against two numbers with one row each, and as a 2.0 is on record for both, engine size does not choose between them.

So the car shortens the list without finishing it. A Nexia or Espero leaves you among the 13 rows of 16199550, where only the code changes from row to row. Whatever the car, the number and code on the unit are what identify it. If your Daewoo is not on record against the number you have, send the unit all the same: as the note at the top of the page says, these units may also fit other models.

How do you send a Delphi Delco Multec to us?

Copy the label onto the Repair Form exactly as printed: the eight digits, then the two characters after them. Where the table lists a number both with and without a code, as it does for 16199550, 16238981 and 16246929, send the code if your label has one. If part of the label has worn away, give us what you can read and say which characters are uncertain.
