Count the digits in the OEM number on your EDC15C7’s label before you compare any of them with the table below. On this page, eight digits belong to a Fiat or Alfa Romeo car, ten digits beginning 13 to a van on a Fiat number, and ten digits beginning 96 to a van on a Peugeot and Citroën number.

That one number tells you which part of the table to read before a single digit is matched. It also explains why a page whose Fits line says only Fiat covers the Alfa Romeo 156 and a van sold under three badges: Fiat Ducato, Peugeot Boxer and Citroën Relay.

Eighteen of the 35 rows carry an OEM number, and every one of those Bosch and OEM pairings is confirmed in independent records. The other seventeen have no OEM number, and on those the Bosch number does the identifying on its own.

Eight digits: Fiat and Alfa Romeo JTD cars

Eleven rows carry an eight-digit OEM number beginning 46, 55 or 73. That is Fiat’s numbering, and here it covers Fiat 1.9 JTD models and two versions of the Alfa Romeo 156.

  • Fiat Multipla 1.9 JTD: 0281010334 (OEM 46825696) and 0281011505 (OEM 55198476)
  • Fiat Doblo 1.9 JTD: 0281010344 (OEM 73501235), 0281011499 (OEM 55191195) and 0281011557 (OEM 55193786)
  • Fiat Stilo 1.9 JTD: 0281011396 (OEM 55187569), 0281011420 (OEM 55188215) and 0281011553 (OEM 55198058)
  • Alfa Romeo 156 1.9 JTD: 0281010740 (OEM 55186488)
  • Alfa Romeo 156 2.4 JTD: 0281010336 (OEM 468 217 67)
  • Fiat 1.9 JTD, model not named: 0281010342 (OEM 46 765 080)

The last row is a Fiat 1.9 JTD, but the records we checked split between models, so we do not name one. That pair of numbers identifies the unit without the model’s help.

Among the rows with an OEM number, the Multipla has two and the Doblo and Stilo three each, so the model narrows the search without finishing it. The Bosch number on the case finishes it, and the OEM number beside it should agree with the same row.

Our table prints some of these numbers with spaces and some without, so count digits rather than characters. 468 217 67 is eight digits, the same length as 46825696 in the row above it.

Ten digits beginning 13: vans on Fiat numbers

Five rows carry a ten-digit OEM number that begins 13 and ends 080. That is still a Fiat number, but on this page every one of them belongs to a van. Three are 2.8 diesels recorded in the Fiat Ducato and in the same van sold as the Peugeot Boxer and Citroën Relay:

  • 0281010454 (OEM 1327517080)
  • 0281010486 (OEM 1327518080)
  • 0281010931 (OEM 1337648080)

Two more are recorded in the Ducato only: 0281010487 (OEM 1328001080), another 2.8, and 0281010489 (OEM 1327239080), the only 2.3 among the rows with an OEM number. For those two we go as far as the Ducato badge and no further, because that is where the records stop.

Among the eighteen rows with an OEM number, a Ducato 2.8 therefore has four candidates and a Boxer or Relay 2.8 has three, so neither badge nor engine size settles it. The OEM number does. Read it slowly: 1327517080 and 1327518080 differ only in the seventh digit.

Ten digits beginning 96: the 2.0 and 2.2 on Peugeot–Citroën numbers

Two rows carry a ten-digit OEM number beginning 96 and ending 80, the format Peugeot and Citroën use. Both are vans recorded under all three badges, Fiat Ducato, Peugeot Boxer and Citroën Relay:

  • 0281010484 (OEM 96 486 085 80), the 2.2 HDi
  • 0281012597 (OEM 9658309980), the 2.0

Length alone does not separate these from the Fiat van numbers, since both run to ten digits and both end in 80. The first two digits do: 96 here, 13 in the section above.

In this table the Peugeot–Citroën numbers go with the 2.0 and 2.2, and the Fiat numbers with the 2.8 and 2.3. That is a pattern in these seven rows, not a rule we would apply beyond them, but it means a Boxer can carry a Fiat number and a Ducato a Peugeot–Citroën one. Go by the label, not the badge on the front.

No OEM number: seventeen rows the Bosch number identifies alone

Seventeen of the 35 rows have an empty OEM column. We have not filled those cells by guesswork, and this page attaches no vehicle to any of them. On those rows the ten-digit Bosch number, which begins 0281 on every row of this table, identifies the unit by itself.

Neighbouring numbers are no guide to neighbouring vehicles. The six numbers 0281010484 to 0281010489 run consecutively, and among them are a 2.2 van on a Peugeot–Citroën number, two 2.8 vans, a 2.3 van and two rows with no OEM number at all. One misread final digit points to a different unit.

If your unit is one of these seventeen and its label does show an OEM number, send it along with the Bosch number. The Bosch number decides the row either way.

Your EDC15C7 at our workshop, from arrival to return

The unit travels by post to our own UK workshop, and our own engineers work on it there, on our own equipment. First it is booked in under the numbers and vehicle you supplied, then checked by eye, tested electrically and put through diagnostics aimed at the fault you reported.

When we know what has failed, we tell you, along with what the repair involves, and nothing chargeable starts until you give the go-ahead. The work is done at board level under a microscope with temperature-controlled rework equipment, and it is not finished until the unit passes final testing.

The ECU that goes back into your car or van is the one you sent, with a 24-month warranty on the repair we carried out.

Copy the Bosch number and, if there is one, the OEM number from the case, note the vehicle and how it has been running, then send every digit through the Repair Form.

If the label names a Fiat unit other than the EDC15C7, look through the other Fiat designations we repair. For an Alfa Romeo with another unit fitted, go to where our Alfa Romeo repairs begin, and a Boxer fitted with a different unit is covered under Peugeot engine ECUs, Boxer vans included.

The full list follows in our table’s own order, Bosch number first and the OEM number beside it wherever one is recorded.
