Note: This ECU may also fit other models.

The model name is the wrong place to start with a Bosch MA1.7. Both numbers in our table are found in the Fiat Tipo and the Lancia Delta, and what separates them is the engine: 0261200721 goes with the 1.6 petrol, 0261203511 with the 1.4.

1.6 or 1.4: the engine size points to the MA1.7 row

The records behind our table place 0261200721 in the Fiat Tipo and Tempra and the Lancia Delta and Dedra, with the 1.6 petrol engine in most records that state a size. 0261203511 turns up in the Tipo and the Delta with the 1.4, and never against a 1.6.

A Tipo or a Delta badge therefore tells you only that you are on the right page. The engine capacity is what points to a row: 1.6 to 0261200721, 1.4 to 0261203511.

Treat that as a strong pointer rather than proof. The number printed on the ECU case confirms it, and if the case and the engine size seem to disagree, the case is what we go by.

Lancia Delta and Dedra on a page headed Fiat

The spec lines above say Fiat, and the Fiat Tipo is recorded against both units. Lancia shares them all the same: the Delta appears against both numbers as well, and the Dedra against the 1.6 unit alone. So an MA1.7 from a Lancia belongs on this page, and it goes through our workshop exactly as a Fiat unit does.

The Fiat Tempra follows the same pattern as the Dedra, named only against 0261200721 in the fitment we give. For a Tipo or a Delta, where the car could lead to either row, the engine size is the detail to check.

An empty OEM column on both MA1.7 rows

Neither row in our table has a Fiat or Lancia part number in its OEM column. We have not confirmed one for either unit, so both cells stay blank and no number is suggested here in their place.

That leaves the Bosch number as the confirmation. 0261200721 comes from the 0261 200 range and 0261203511 from 0261 203, so the two share their first six digits and first differ at the seventh. Read past 0261 20 before matching a row.

Our table prints each number as ten unbroken digits. The label on your unit may group them, as 0261 200 721 or 0261 203 511; the digits are identical either way. If the case also carries a Fiat or Lancia number, pass it on exactly as printed.

How an MA1.7 is handled in our workshop

Every MA1.7 is repaired in our own UK workshop by our own engineers, with no part of the job passed to anyone else. On arrival the unit is logged, inspected and electrically tested, then taken through diagnostics aimed at the fault you describe.

We report what we find before any chargeable work starts, and nothing goes ahead until you authorise it. The failed component is then repaired on your original unit, under a microscope with temperature-controlled rework equipment.

Before it is posted back, the ECU has to pass final testing. The repair is covered by a 24-month warranty.

Sending an MA1.7 to us by post

We work entirely by post and take units in from anywhere in the UK. Give us the Bosch number and the engine size together: put both on the Repair Form, plus a line on how the fault shows itself.

If the case names a designation other than MA1.7, see Fiat engine ECUs that carry another Bosch name, or go to engine ECU repairs from the top for any other make. Otherwise, both MA1.7 numbers are listed below, with the OEM column left blank.
