An Alfa Romeo GTV or Spider leads to one Bosch M2.10.4 number on this page, and an Alfa Romeo 145 or 146 leads to three. Every other car in the table leaves one or two, and the detail that breaks a tie is not the same each time: engine size for some, a turbocharger for one, and in two places nothing we can confirm, which is where the label on the case takes over.

The spec lines above read Fits: Fiat and Engines: 2.0L, but the table is wider than that. Six of its ten rows are Alfa Romeo, also a Fiat-group make, and two are recorded against 1.8-litre engines. All ten are petrol units.

Cars that lead to a single M2.10.4 row

Two cars in our records point to just one number. The Alfa Romeo GTV/Spider 2.0 appears against 0261 204 484 and no other row. The Fiat Marea appears only against 0261 204 381.

0261 204 381 is the one Fiat row recorded against more than one model: sources list it for the Fiat 2.0 20v in the Marea and in the Bravo/Brava, and we do not pick one car for it. For a Marea that is no obstacle, since no other row names it, but a Bravo or Brava owner has a second number to rule out, covered further down.

Engine size settles the Alfa Romeo 155 and most 145/146 units

The 155 appears on two rows. 0261 204 168 is recorded against the 155 1.8 and 0261 204 422 against the 155 2.0, so the engine size alone tells them apart.

The 145 and 146 take three consecutive numbers, and no two are recorded against the same engine. 0261 204 478 is listed for the 2.0 16V and 0261 204 479 for the 1.8. The third, 0261 204 480, is also listed against the 145/146, but the sources we checked disagree on its engine size, so we do not quote one.

That limits what engine size can do. A 145/146 2.0 16V points to 478 and a 1.8 to 479, but neither result rules out 480, because its engine is not settled on record. Only the number on the case does that, and with three neighbouring numbers, one misread final digit lands you on a different engine.

On the Fiat Coupe rows, the turbo is the difference

The Fiat Coupe takes two neighbouring numbers, both recorded against the 2.0 20V. 0261 204 482 is listed for the Coupe 2.0 20V and 0261 204 483 for the Coupe 2.0 20V Turbo.

So the question about a Coupe is not its engine size, which is the same on both rows, but whether it is the turbo. Because the two numbers differ only in the last digit, check that digit on the case as well; the car and the label should agree.

Nothing on record separates the two Bravo 2.0 rows

A Fiat Bravo 2.0 appears against two numbers: 0261 203 994, recorded against the Bravo 2.0, and 0261 204 381, recorded against the 2.0 20v in the Marea and Bravo/Brava. The records do not describe the 994’s engine beyond its size, so the 20v detail cannot be used to choose between them.

The label, though, separates them at a glance. 0261 203 994 is the only number in the table from the 0261 203 range; the other nine all begin 0261 204. On a Bravo, the first seven digits on the case settle which row you have.

One OEM number in ten: the Bosch number does the identifying

Only one row in the table carries an OEM number: 0261 204 479, paired with 0 046 481 483 0. The other nine OEM cells are blank, and we leave them that way rather than fill them with numbers we have not confirmed.

For nine of the ten units, then, the Bosch number is the whole lookup and the car is the check on it. Copy all ten digits from the label, spaced as printed, and add the OEM number if your case carries one. On a 0261 204 479, quoting both lets us match the one pairing the table records.

What happens when your M2.10.4 reaches us
