We cannot tell you which vehicle 0281 010 650 came from. It is one of seven Bosch EDC15VM numbers in our table and the only one where our records are too thin to name a vehicle, so this page starts there, then works through how far our records reach on the other six.

We repair Bosch EDC15VM diesel engine ECUs at component level in our own UK workshop, and each repair carries a 24-month warranty.

What if your label reads 0281 010 650?

Then the Bosch number is all there is to go on, and it is enough for us to start from. Our table prints no VAG number beside it, and our records stop short of naming a vehicle, so nothing on this page can confirm one for this unit, and nothing here rules one out.

Take the ten digits from the label on the case itself, not from a listing or an old invoice. If the label shows other numbers as well, copy them onto your enquiry as they appear.

Why do the three VAG numbers in our table look different?

Three rows print a VAG number in the column headed OEM Number, and no two take the same form. 0281 010 005 sits beside 8D1907401, which ends on a digit with no letters after it. 0281 010 631 sits beside 074906018BG and 0281 010 683 beside 038906012FK, each closing with two letters.

With three shapes and no common pattern, there is nothing to tidy your number towards. Copy it exactly as your label prints it, adding nothing where the label stops and leaving nothing off where it carries letters.

These are also the rows our records say most about. 0281 010 005 is on record from an Audi A4 with a 2.5 TDI, 0281 010 631 from a Volkswagen Transporter, and 0281 010 683 from a Seat Leon, with a 1.9 on record against it.

What identifies a row with no VAG number?

Four rows carry no VAG number in our table: 0281 010 126, 0281 010 447, 0281 010 650 and 0281 011 387. For each of them, the Bosch number is what identifies the unit.

Three of those four still have a vehicle on record. 0281 010 126 is on record from a Volkswagen Golf, and 0281 010 447 from a Volkswagen Passat. 0281 011 387 is on record from an Audi, without a model we hold enough records to name.

None of the three has an engine size on record that we would rely on, so the size of your engine neither confirms nor rules out any of them. Match the Bosch number on the case, digit for digit.

Does a unit from a van belong on the same page as one from a car?

It does here. The vehicles on record across our Bosch EDC15VM table run from cars such as the Golf and the Leon to a van, the Volkswagen Transporter, on 0281 010 631. A garage holding a unit from a Transporter and an owner holding one from a Golf start from the same table.

What we repair is the unit, whatever it was fitted to. A car or van on record is a pointer to where a Bosch number has been found, not a list of every vehicle it went into. If your Bosch number is not among these seven, look through the Bosch EDC15V numbers we list before you send anything.

What happens once your EDC15VM reaches our workshop?

Your unit is booked in against your enquiry, examined, and tested electrically before anyone decides what to repair. We then contact you with what testing found, and no repair begins until you have agreed to it.

Faults are repaired at component level, under magnification, by our own engineers, and the unit is not signed off until it passes final testing. It comes back to you with a 24-month warranty on the repair carried out.

What should you send us with your EDC15VM?

Give us the Bosch number, the vehicle the unit came from and a line on how it has been behaving, then send them through the Repair Form, with a VAG number only if the label shows one.

For other engine ECUs from the same makes, go to the Volkswagen hub, if your Golf or Passat unit is not listed here, or to the Audi hub, one step up from this page.

The seven Bosch EDC15VM numbers follow. Where a row’s OEM Number cell is empty, the Bosch number stands on its own.
