Note: This ECU may also fit other models.

This page covers one Siemens Simos PPD1.3 engine ECU: the unit carrying the reference 03G 906 018 AQ, recorded against the diesel Audi A4 2.0 TDI. With only one reference to match, identifying it is a single check, so most of this page follows the unit through our workshop once that check is done.

Matching the label to the A4 2.0 TDI

Read the Volkswagen-group reference printed on the unit’s label, and read all of it: 03G 906 018 AQ, including the two letters after 018. Siemens built the unit, and many of these labels carry the Siemens VDO name as well; the records file this reference as Simos PPD1.3.

Then check the car. If the reference matches and the unit came out of an A4 2.0 TDI, it is the unit this page describes. If the letters after 018 differ, or the unit came from a different Audi, our record here does not cover it, and it makes more sense to start from the Audi badge instead than to post a unit on a guess. If the car is not an Audi at all, widen the search to all engine ECU repairs.

From the post room to the bench

Every unit that reaches us is logged first. It is then inspected visually, tested electrically, and taken through diagnostics aimed at the fault it arrived with, rather than a general pass or fail.

All of that happens in-house: our own engineers, our own UK workshop, our own equipment. Nothing is subcontracted or sent overseas, so the unit from your A4 stays under one roof from the moment it is logged until it is posted back.

The diagnosis works at component level. The aim is to find the particular part of the circuit that has failed and repair it, instead of replacing the whole unit. Failed injector drivers, failed voltage regulators, faulty CAN bus transceivers and dry solder joints are the kinds of fault this approach is built to locate.

Nothing is repaired until you say so

When the diagnosis is complete, we contact you with what we found. No repair work starts until you have authorised it, so the decision about the unit is made by you, with the findings in front of you.

Authorised work is carried out under a microscope, using temperature-controlled rework equipment. Replacing the failed component does not end the job. The repair counts as complete only when the unit has passed final testing.

Back into the A4 under a 24-month warranty

Since the repair is made to the failed component rather than by swapping units, your A4 gets its own control unit back, not a substitute. That repair is covered by a 24-month warranty on the specific work carried out. The warranty is non-transferable.

We run as a mail-in service for the whole of the UK, so the unit comes to us by post whether you are a garage or the car’s owner. Before you send it, let the workshop know it is coming through the Repair Form, giving the full label reference and the car it came from, so it can be matched to your enquiry on arrival.

The single reference recorded for this unit is set out in the table below.
