Read down the cars recorded against the twelve Bosch MA3.0 numbers in our table and one name keeps coming back: the Peugeot 106, on nine of them. The Citroën ZX and AX appear on four rows each and the Peugeot 306 on three, so on this page the badge on the bonnet narrows the search very little.
What does narrow it is the engine size, mainly on the 106 and AX, and after that the Bosch number on the unit’s label. The sections below take those in turn, then cover what to send us and how the unit is repaired once it arrives.
Nine rows recorded against the Peugeot 106
Where our records give an engine size for a 106 row, it is either 1.0 or 1.4, and that is the first split worth making. Two rows are recorded with the 1.0 engine: 0261200780 and 0261204051. Four are recorded with the 1.4: 0261200708, 0261200772, 0261203618 and 0261204049.
The remaining three, 0261200707, 0261200773 and 0261204050, have no engine size on record, so they stay in play whichever engine your 106 has. A 106 1.0 therefore leaves five candidates, and a 106 1.4 leaves seven. Both lists are shorter than nine, and the label settles which one you hold.
The Citroën AX shares four of those rows: 0261200707, 0261200780, 0261204050 and 0261204051. Each is recorded with the 1.0 engine or has no size on record, and each is recorded against the 106 as well. Where a row names two cars, the unit is recorded against both, and either car leads you to it.
The Peugeot 306 and Citroën ZX: every row a 1.4
The 306 and ZX sit on a smaller group. 0261200732 and 0261200778 are each recorded against both cars, and 0261203618 against the 306, the ZX and the 106 together. The ZX has one more row, 0261204049, which it shares with the 106.
All four of those rows are recorded with the 1.4 engine. On a 306 or ZX, then, the engine size confirms the shortlist rather than shortening it: three rows for the 306, four for the ZX, and the label separates them.
One number, 0261203735, has no model recorded against it firmly enough for us to name one. The sources we checked place it only with Peugeot and Citroën, like every other row on this page, so if your label reads 0261203735, give us the car and engine size on the form all the same.
Checking the Bosch number against the table
The OEM column in the table below is blank on every row, so the Bosch number is the one to match. All twelve begin 0261 and fall into three groups: seven start 0261 200, two start 0261 203 and three start 0261 204.
Within a group, numbers only a digit or two apart can belong to different engines. 0261204049 is recorded with the 1.4, 0261204051 with the 1.0, and 0261204050 between them has no size on record. Read the full number off the unit itself, and treat a spaced form such as 0 261 204 051 as the same number.
Sellers list these units as Bosch MA3.0, sometimes written MA 3.0. If the label carries other numbers too, such as a Peugeot or Citroën number beginning 96, include them on the form; we use them alongside the Bosch number when we confirm the unit.
If the Bosch number on your unit is not among these twelve, look through every Peugeot engine ECU designation we cover or our other Citroën engine ECU repairs. For a car from another manufacturer, start with engine ECU repairs beyond Peugeot and Citroën.
Details to send with a Bosch MA3.0
Complete the Repair Form, engine size beside the model with the full Bosch number, any other number from the label, the car, its engine size if you know it and the fault you have noticed. On a 106 or AX, the engine size is worth adding even if you are unsure of other details, because it separates the 1.0 rows from the 1.4 rows.
Then post the unit to our workshop. The service is run by post, so it makes no difference where in the UK the car is.
How a Bosch MA3.0 is repaired in our workshop
When the unit arrives it is logged, looked over and tested electrically, and our engineers then run diagnostics aimed at the fault described on your form. The repair is done in-house at component level: the part that has failed is found and repaired under a microscope with temperature-controlled rework equipment, and the unit you sent is the one we return.
Before any chargeable work starts, we send you our findings and a quote, and nothing proceeds until you agree. The unit comes back only after passing final testing, and the repair carried out is covered by our 24-month warranty.
