Engine size is a detail many owners know about their car, and in the sections below it is given beside each Ford number wherever the record confirms one. Our own engineers repair these engine ECUs at component level, in our UK workshop.
Six of the numbers in our table are on record as LP4-336 units, and each of those six is marked below.
Using the engine size you already know
Our table prints a Ford number followed by a four-character code. The hyphens are left out, so 1S4F-12A650-AJB is printed as 1S4F12A650AJB, with FEEL after a space.
In the sections below we set out what the record holds for each number: the car, the engine size where it is confirmed, and the LP4-336 code where that is on record.
Start with the label. When its Ford number is one our table prints, compare the car and size on record for that number with the car the unit came from.
Engine size is a check, never a way to settle on a number without reading the label.
Labels beginning 1S4F-12A650
Our table prints three numbers that begin this way.
1S4F-12A650-AHB carries the code TEAR. It is on record as an LP4-336 unit. The Ford Focus is on record for it too.
1S4F-12A650-AHC is followed in our table by TEEM. This number is on record from the Ford Focus 2.0.
1S4F-12A650-AJB carries FEEL. It is on record from the Ford Focus 1.8.
Labels beginning 2M5F-12A650
Our table prints four numbers that begin this way, with the endings DA, DB, DC and EB.
2M5F-12A650-DA carries HXK0. It is on record as an LP4-336 unit. It is also on record from the Ford Focus 1.8.
2M5F-12A650-DB has HXK1 printed after it in our table. This number is on record as an LP4-336 unit. The Ford Focus 1.8 is on record for it as well.
2M5F-12A650-DC carries HXK2. It is on record as an LP4-336 unit. It is on record from the Ford Focus 1.8 too.
2M5F-12A650-EB is followed in our table by XSU1. It is on record as an LP4-336 unit. It is also on record from the Ford Focus 2.0.
In our table, HXK0, HXK1 and HXK2 follow DA, DB and DC in turn, so the last digit of the code rises by one as the last letter of the ending moves from A to B to C. If the ending on your label is rubbed, the code after it is worth reading closely.
Labels beginning 2T1F-12A650
Our table prints 2T1F-12A650-CC with 2HLC after it. It is on record as an LP4-336 unit. It is also on record from the Ford Transit Connect.
For a Transit Connect, the order is the same as above: the full Ford number comes off the label first, and the car is checked against the record given here second.
Bench, estimate, repair and return
An engine ECU can be posted to us from anywhere in the UK, and you can contact us for a quote through our Repair Form.
Each unit we receive is logged and visually inspected, then electrically tested and put through fault-specific diagnostics. The outcome comes back to you with an estimate, and chargeable work waits for your authorisation.
At the bench, our engineers work at component level under a microscope, with temperature-controlled rework equipment. The unit has to pass final testing before it is posted back, and a 24-month warranty from us goes with the repair we carried out.
Ford owners can also browse the Ford engine ECUs on our books. For other manufacturers, see our engine ECU repairs, make by make, or the engine ECUs listed on our What We Repair page.
Our table follows, printed without hyphens as described above.
