Nineteen Ford numbers fill our Siemens SIM210 table, so the quickest route to the right row starts from your label rather than from the list. Read the Ford number first, use the Siemens number to confirm it, and treat the car as background. The sections below take those in turn, then cover what happens to the unit once it arrives.

Start with the Ford number, down to the last letter

Twelve of the nineteen Ford numbers begin 4S61, so the prefix alone rarely gets you far. The two letters at the end usually do the deciding: 4S61-12A650-NA, 4S61-12A650-NB and 4S61-12A650-NC are three separate rows, and so are SA, SB, SC and SE.

Our table prints each Ford number without hyphens and follows it with a four-character code, so 4S61-12A650-EB appears as 4S6112A650EB 6AZB. That code belongs to the label as well. 6AZB is recorded on labels beside 4S61-12A650-EB in fourteen independent sources, and 2CJD beside 6S61-12A650-FD in ten, so copy the whole line exactly as printed.

The Siemens number confirms the row rather than finding it

Nine Siemens base numbers cover the nineteen rows, and several are shared. S120977015 appears on four rows, S120977013 and S120977315 on three each, and S120977010 on two. On those rows only the closing letter separates one unit from the next, which is why the Ford number is the safer match and the Siemens letter the check.

On labels described by our independent sources, S120977013 is on record with A beside 4S61-12A650-NA, C beside NB and E beside NC. S120977015 carries A, C, E and G on SA, SB, SC and SE respectively, and S120977315 carries D, F and H on 6S61-12A650-FD, FF and FH respectively.

Elsewhere, S120977010 is on record with A beside 2U7A-12A650-TE and with D beside 2U7A-12A650-TG. S120977003 A goes with 4S61-12A650-EB, S120977014 E with 4S61-12A650-LC and S120977322 D with 6S61-12A650-MD. S120977012 appears with D beside 4S61-12A650-TC and with H beside 4S61-12A650-TF.

No single rule links the Ford suffix to the Siemens letter across the table, so copy the letter printed on your label rather than predicting it. Where the Siemens number in our table ends without a letter, expect one on the label, and let the Ford number make the match.

Petrol Fiestas with 1.25, 1.4 and 1.6 engines

Almost every Ford number in our table is on record from a Ford Fiesta. As a family, the SIM210 numbers are on record from the petrol Fiesta with 1.25, 1.4 and 1.6 engines, and some from the Ford Fusion as well.

Engine size narrows the field, but not far. Row by row, 4S61-12A650-EB is on record from both the 1.4 and the 1.25; NA, NB, NC and 2U7A-12A650-TG from the 1.4; 6S61-12A650-FD and FH from the 1.25; and 6S61-12A650-MD from the 1.6. The other rows have no engine size on record individually, so the Ford number still has to pick the row.

4S61-12A650-EB and 6S61-12A650-FD are the most widely recorded numbers in the table, in 28 and 32 independent sources respectively. Both have been written up as case studies elsewhere on this site.

What happens to a SIM210 on our bench

This is a postal service: garages and private owners anywhere in the UK send the unit to us, and our own engineers repair it in-house on our own equipment.
